Treasure Hunting

I love finding good deals. I have been getting excited for spring because that means garage and yard sales. So I felt like I hit the jackpot today when I went to good will and found a mint condition pottery barn kids kitchen cupboard. Not even a scratch, and I paid $19. I also got two huge bags of Lego's for $4, and a few other great items. I have been on a thrifty find high all day, wahoo!!! Squid loves the kitchen and it goes perfectly with the Velcro fake food she got for her birthday. She played with it all afternoon. I think it is so much funner to find a deal or make something yourself. I get so much more satisfaction from something if I have some emotional investment. Its also pretty satisfying to take something that someone thought was junk and turn it into something beautiful. It is pretty crazy the things you can do.

  1. Good job on your find. It is really cute. We must be kindred spirits for sure because I get the same high when I find cool stuff at thrift stores or yard sales.

  2. so cute! how do you manage to do thrifty shopping outings with the kiddos--that's the part that's not appealing to me! we're into spring cleaning mode now and getting rid of LOTS so matt would not be happy even if i did discover something great and tried to bring it in the house.

  4. that is such a great find!! WOW! I need to be better at actually looking for the deals. where's the time? I just don't make it, I guess. It does feel so good to do it yourself (or find it yourself, in this case!)
